TEA Parties nation-wide have found that calling, writing, and showing up in person in D.C. has the same impact as a hiccup in a hurricane. After turning out thousands of citizens at rallies, overwhelming the Senate phone lines and crashing Congress’ e-mail system, our elected representatives are poised to enact the greatest expansion of government in history. The TEA Parties followed the direction of national organizations and associations. They answered the call, but were sent over the trench-line without an actual plan or support. (See, for example, Somme, Battle of) It is time for the TEA Party movement to turn inward. In the words of the age-old adage, “ All politics is local “.
Stories like the ACORN tapes have massive national legs, yet they do not destroy the local farm team of tax-and-spend big government. Fighting for Liberty and the ability to live the American dream requires getting your hands dirty far closer to home.
For the TEA party and 9-12 groups to become effective, they must evolve again, and this time the Gadsden Flag will be a marker laid down to far more personal targets. People find the mundane of daily life and local news forgettable, yet this is how the TEA party can enact meaningful change.
To end the progression of large intrusive government and the progressive agenda, the TEA party must neuter the left’s farm team. City Council, County Board, Park Districts, and School Boards may not have the flash of State Representatives, State Senators or their federal partners, but, they are, indeed, perhaps more the important .
The progressives and Big Government-types have entrenched themselves into local power bases. They have expanded the role of government from the garbage man to the kindergarten teacher. They are taking us over from within, yet we can push back.
Until the last year, our side has been busy with our personal and professional lives. We have looked past machine politics and the local aspects of our lives. We have ignored the corruption in our hometowns. We have chosen to overlook the police state that has grown. We have chosen to allow the nanny state to encroach on smoking in taverns or trans-fat in our doughnuts, to name just two recent examples. We have allowed an extra $.05 sales tax for “insert public good here” after another, without protest or outrage.
In our slumber, we have allowed our liberties to be encroached. We have allowed the will of the State to be imposed on us. In places like Missouri, we have allowed no more than 30 hardened progressives to dictate the tempo of the debate. (Fortunately, we do know who you are and will be outing you here.) We have allowed this to happen because we have not paid attention to the minor league ball game.
We choose instead to protest in Washington, D.C. We chose to show outrage to the political class that is not listening. They won’t listen; they do not have to . They have showered their districts in pork and bribed us with our own money. They can freely come back home from the Beltway bubble to their local farm team and act like they conquered Gaul.
A local mayor and a rogue’s gallery of other officials will hold a press conference with the Representative or Senator and the lamestream media will re-broadcast their talking points. These local co-conspirators will treat the federal officials as Caesar, yet the arch they march through is a fake. These people have only accomplished one thing; they have retained power. They hold power by controlling the means of political production. They control us by controlling our cities, counties, parks, and schools. They have turned us into a class of serfs begging for scraps from the table that we fill. (That’s actually unfair to serfs. In Medieval times, serfs only had to hand over 1/3 of their income to the feudal lords. Add up federal, state and local tax levies, we may much more than serfs ever paid. So, what does that make us?)
Now is the time for the TEA party to show it’s real colors and longevity. Now it is time for us to stop the rallies and start the process of running for election and holding our current officials directly accountable. Now is the time for the plumber, the electrician, and the Joe Six-pack American to end this madness.
No more will we go quietly into that long night. Now, we must fight. We must take back the system and make our elected officials fear “we the people”. This is the battle our forefathers saw many years ago.
This is the time for the Tea Party to seize the day and make a difference. Which party you decide to run on doesn’t matter. Republican or Democrat matters little, as the national leaders of both have lost touch. What matters is we destroy the go-along-to-get-along farm team. It also matters that we pick a party…the Republicans and Democrats have together gamed the system against third parties. Creating a TEA Party isn’t a serious solution. Leverage your power locally to change your party.
Make a pledge to not vote to tax and spend the people’s money. Make a pledge to quit after “x” amounts of terms in office. The people are waiting for a leader; they are waiting for a Captain. Be that Captain. March to the sound of the guns, and seize the day.
With TEA party people in every position of government, the political class in Washington will listen. They will no longer have the political cover of pork-hungry Mayors doing tricks for the political elite. There will no longer be days of staffers blowing people off to vote for their party line.
A carpet-layer has more experience to lead than any political hack. An insurance man has more ability to look at regulations than a risk-adverse lawyer. A veteran has more understanding of what it takes to support our men and women in harms way.
It is time to break the mold of what looks good to get elected. Now is the time to become involved. Now is the time to hear the sounds of battle and join. The Government teat must be turned off. The system needs to be rebooted.
Help start the process and run for office. The great sleeper that is America has woken up. 2010 is not the end game, neither is 2012. The end game is when we level the playing field and make America once again the land of opportunity.
Fly that Gadsden flag high and fly it proud. But, that isn’t enough. It is time to leave your fields and join the battle. March to the sound of the guns.

If ever the people of the United States rise up and fight over passage of Obamacare, Harry Reid must be remembered as the man who sacrificed the dignity of his office for a few pieces of silver. The rules of fair play that have kept the basic integrity of the Republic alive have died with Harry Reid. Reid has slipped in a provision into the health care legislation prohibiting future Congresses from changing any regulations imposed on Americans by the Independent Medicare [note: originally referred to as “medical”] Advisory Boards, which are commonly called the “Death Panels.”
It was Reid leading the Democrats who ignored 200 years of Senate precedents to rule that Senator Sanders could withdraw his amendment while it was being read.
It was Reid leading the Democrats who has determined again and again over the past few days that hundreds of years of accumulated Senate parliamentary rulings have no bearing on the health care vote. [emphasis mine and throughout]
On December 21, 2009, however, Harry Reid sold out the Republic in toto.
Upon examination of Senator Harry Reid’s amendment to the health care legislation, Senators discovered section 3403. That section changes the rules of the United States Senate.
To change the rules of the United States Senate, there must be sixty-seven votes.
Section 3403 of Senator Harry Reid’s amendment requires that “it shall not be in order in the Senate or the House of Representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment, or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection.” The good news is that this only applies to one section of the Obamacare legislation. The bad news is that it applies to regulations imposed on doctors and patients by the Independent Medicare Advisory Boards a/k/a the Death Panels.
Section 3403 of Senator Reid’s legislation also states, “Notwithstanding rule XV of the Standing Rules of the Senate, a committee amendment described in subparagraph (A) may include matter not within the jurisdiction of the Committee on Finance if that matter is relevant to a proposal contained in the bill submitted under subsection (c)(3).” In short, it sets up a rule to ignore another Senate rule.
Senator Jim DeMint confronted the Democrats over Reid’s language. In the past, the Senate Parliamentarian has repeatedly determined that any legislation that also changes the internal standing rules of the Senate must have a two-thirds vote to pass because to change Senate rules, a two-thirds vote is required. Today, the Senate President, acting on the advice of the Senate Parliamentarian, ruled that these rules changes are actually just procedural changes and, despite what the actual words of the legislation say, are not rules changes. Therefore, a two-thirds vote is not needed in contravention to longstanding Senate precedent.

We led the efforts of our members to contact every single Senator after the House passed their health care bill, to DEMAND that they reject Harry Reid’s “motion to proceed” on the ObamaCare bill — and as a result, over two hundred and sixteen thousand faxes FLOODED those Senate offices!
We just barely missed winning on this first vote… but WE CAN STILL DEFEAT THE BILL. The bill pushed by Obama, and passed by leftist Democrats in the House, is NOT getting the full support of every Democrat in the U.S. Senate; and without all 60 of those votes, they will NOT be able to pass the NEXT cloture vote coming up soon…
Which means that we can STILL defeat it there — IF we can overwhelm every Senator with our demands to STOP it!

The Democrats have given Joe Lieberman everything he wanted. Joe will now vote for the bill. Ben Nelson (D-NE) is being threatened with having every major military installation in Nebraska shut down. Yes, I know, but the Democrats are playing for keeps on this and health care “reform” is more important to them than the military. Liberals are being told they have to accept this to given them any credibility going into next year’s election. They don’t want to be accused of “killing reform.” Lastly, the CBO scoring of the bill is going to look fine now that the Medicare affecting portions are going to be dropped. Inevitably, this legislation is going to cause health care costs to skyrocket and force people into socialized medicine. But Barack Obama and the Democrats don’t care. They want to be seen as doing something and beating the Republicans – with what, they don’t care.
But we have NOT lost this fight. Harry Reid STILL does not have all 60 votes he needs to enact cloture and force a vote on his bill. For example, Sen. James Webb (D-VA), who voted with conservatives five times for amendments that would have prevented Reid from slashing Medicare funding, is “still undecided.” Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said she would vote against the bill if it raised health care costs overall — which it does, by $234 billion. Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME) refused to say on Tuesday if she’s leaning towards supporting the healthcare bill. Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) says the bill is “still too deeply flawed for me to support it.” And even Sen. Ben Nelson was still telling Politico yesterday, “I’m not on the bill. I have spoken with the president and he knows they are not wrapped up today. I think everybody understands they are not wrapped up today and that impression will not be given.”
So, even though Harry Reid was able to strong-arm enough of his Senators to vote for his “cloture” motion to proceed to debate — something that is usually just a procedural vote! — he STILL doesn’t have enough votes to enact cloture in order to get a final vote, which means THE BILL WOULD DIE!
We CAN still win, by keeping the Democrats from getting the 60 votes they need on the next cloture vote, scheduled for THIS WEEK… but we can’t do it without YOUR help!

Remember, this bill is the worst of all possible bills. It’s chock full of every far-left special interest socialistic dream imaginable. Here’s some of what’s in its TWO THOUSAND PAGES:
- The CBO estimates that H.R. 3962, the health bill that the House passed, would cost $1.2 TRILLION over 10 years, including the cost to states for mandated Medicaid expansion ($34 billion), the “Doc Fix” ($245 billion), and authorized discretionary spending for grants, public programs, changes and funding for a variety of agencies that would be responsible for implementing H.R. 3962.
- The bill protects trial lawyers. The bill gives money (authorized at “such sums”) to states that enact “certificate of merit” (a document signed by a medical professional that says there is a probability that the standard of care was violated) and / or a certificate of “early offer” (an early, confidential apology) laws, as long as the states don’t limit attorneys’ fees or impose caps on damages.
- The current version will give billions of dollars of taxpayer healthcare benefits to ILLEGAL ALIENS in America. It would allow illegal aliens to use the new healthcare “exchange” and would not require verification to keep illegal aliens out of the other parts of the proposed federal healthcare system. Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus fought back against reports that leaders would add Senate language to block illegal immigrants from participating in the insurance exchange.
- It will create a nationwide federal government program, the “public option,” which will pay for abortion on demand — with federal funds, of course, because that is what federal agencies spend.
Liberals in the House AND the Senate ignored us when the majority said, “NO BAILOUT.” They ignored us when the majority said, “NO FAKE STIMULUS.” Now, they’re trying to ignore us when the majority demands with a clear voice, “NO GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER OF HEALTH CARE!”
We MUST NOT let them ignore us any longer! [CALL your Senators today!]
TAKE ACTION: Believe it or not, even Howard Dean is now saying “the best thing to do right now is kill the Senate bill and go back to the House” — of course, he’s saying it because he wants it to be MORE socialistic… but he’s saying the right thing, even though it’s for the wrong reason!

P.S. As Heritage.org is reporting, just today, the Washington Post released a poll finding that 51% of adults oppose Obamacare, with 40% in strong opposition. Meanwhile only 44% support the bill with only 25% feeling strongly about it. Digging deeper we find that 66% of Americans believe Obamacare will increase the federal budget deficit, 53% believe it will cause their own health care to cost more, 55% believe it will increase the country’s health care costs overall, and 50% believe it will not improve their quality of care. These findings echo an earlier CNN poll which found that 61% of Americans opposed Obamacare, with 79% believing it would add to the deficit and 85% believing it would raise their taxes.
We have a VERY GOOD CHANCE to defeat this bill on the next cloture vote. The Hill is reporting that there are at least seven issues dividing the Democrats right now, which we can use to keep them from getting the 60 votes they need: Public option, abortion, health insurance excise taxes, prescription drugs, affordability, insurance exchanges, and Medicare cuts. CBO: Insurance Proposal Would Effectively Nationalize Private Insurance

A Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) is the percentage of premium dollars an insurer spends on claims as opposed to administrative costs and other expenses. According to news reports, a proposal from Senator Rockefeller and others would limit MLRs to 90%. The Reid bill already requires insurers to issue rebates to enrollees on a pro rata basis if its medical loss ratio falls below 80% or lower for the individual and small-group markets or 85% or lower for the large-group market.
However, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) says that a 90% MLR would expand “the federal government’s regulatory role in the health insurance market so much that it would make such insurance an essentially governmental program, so that all transactions related to health insurance policies (even those with private companies) should be recorded as cash flows in the federal budget.” A similar ruling helped kill Hillary Clinton’s health reform proposal 15 years ago.

Health reform on Capitol Hill:
Focus on Jane, a primary breadwinner making $48,000 (in 2016) to support her family of four. If Jane is offered insurance by her employer that meets the test, she must accept it or pay a fine. That means Jane ends up paying for the entire cost of, say, a $14,100 policy, according to some economists. They say she pays the premiums out of pocket and the remainder indirectly because employers offer reduced paychecks to offset the cost of their share of health insurance.
Now, meet Julie, who also makes $48,000 and is not offered insurance at her job. Julie heads to the newly created exchange to purchase the same policy. But it costs her only $5,300. The rest – about $9,000 – comes from federal subsidies.

How Much Does Insurance Really Cost?

CNNMoney reports on a recent study by eHealthinsurance.com that found:
Half of individual policyholders paid $132 or less per month… According to the report, in 2009 the median non-group health insurance premium for an individual in the United States was $1,584 per year ($132 per month) and the average deductible was $2,326. Combined, annual premiums and deductibles account for approximately 7.7 percent of median household income for 2008 ($50,303) as reported by the US Census Bureau.
Now, if individuals buying their own insurance got the same tax break as employees get for employer-provided coverage and if there were a back-up mechanism for high-risk applicants, we might dramatically reduce the numbers of uninsured without any individual mandate.

Thinking about these and other statements made by the man who wears the title of president … I keep wondering what country he believes he’s president of.
In one of my very favorite stories, Edward Everett Hale’s “The Man without a Country,” a young Army lieutenant named Philip Nolan stands condemned for treason during the Revolutionary War, having come under the influence of Aaron Burr. When the judge asks him if he wishes to say anything before sentence is passed, young Nolan defiantly exclaims, “Damn the United States! I wish I might never hear of the United States again!”
The stunned silence in the courtroom is palpable, pulsing. After a long pause, the judge soberly says to the angry lieutenant: “You have just pronounced your own sentence. You will never hear of the United States again. I sentence you to spend the rest of your life at sea, on one or another of this country’s naval vessels – under strict orders that no one will ever speak to you again about the country you have just cursed.”
And so it was. Philip Nolan was taken away and spent the next 40 years at sea, never hearing anything but an occasional slip of the tongue about America. The last few pages of the story, recounting Nolan’s dying hours in his small stateroom – now turned into a shrine to the country he foreswore – never fail to bring me to tears. And I find my own love for this dream, this miracle called America, refreshed and renewed. I know how blessed and unique we are.
But reading and hearing the audacious, shocking statements of the man who was recently elected our president – a young black man living the impossible dream of millions of young Americans, past and present, black and white – I want to ask him, “Just what country do you think you’re president of?”
You surely can’t be referring to the United States of America, can you? America is emphatically a Christian nation, and has been from its inception! Seventy percent of her citizens identify themselves as Christian. The Declaration of Independence and our Constitution were framed, written and ratified by Christians. It’s because this was, and is, a nation built on and guided by Judeo-Christian biblical principles that you, sir, have had the inestimable privilege of being elected her president.
You studied law at Harvard, didn’t you, sir? You taught constitutional law in Chicago? Did you not ever read the statement of John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and an author of the landmark “Federalist Papers”: “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers – and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation – to select and prefer Christians for their rulers”?
In your studies, you surely must have read the decision of the Supreme Court in 1892: “Our lives and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian.”
Did your professors have you skip over all the high-court decisions right up till the mid 1900s that echoed and reinforced these views and intentions? Did you pick up the history of American jurisprudence only in 1947, when for the first time a phrase coined by Thomas Jefferson about a “wall of separation between church and state” was used to deny some specific religious expression – contrary to Jefferson’s intent with that statement?
Or, wait a minute … were your ideas about America’s Christianity formed during the 20 years you were a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ under your pastor, Jeremiah Wright? Is that where you got the idea that “America is no longer a Christian nation”? Is this where you, even as you came to call yourself a Christian, formed the belief that “America has been arrogant”?
Even if that’s the understandable explanation of your damning of your country and accusing the whole nation (not just a few military officials trying their best to keep more Americans from being murdered by jihadists) of “not always living up to her ideals,” how did you come up with the ridiculous, alarming notion that we might be “considered a Muslim nation”?
Is it because there are some 2 million or more Muslims living here, trying to be good Americans? Out of a current population of over 300 million, 70 percent of whom are Christians? Does that make us, by any rational definition, a “Muslim nation”?
Why are we not, then, a “Chinese nation”? A “Korean nation”? Even a “Vietnamese nation”? There are even more of these distinct groups in America than Muslims. And if the distinction you’re trying to make is a religious one, why is America not “a Jewish nation”? There’s actually a case to be made for the latter, because our Constitution – and the success of our Revolution and founding – owe a deep debt to our Jewish brothers.

WASHINGTON – Taking an important step on the thorny path to closing the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the White House plans to announce Tuesday that the government will acquire an underutilized state prison in rural Illinois to be the new home for a limited number of terrorist suspects held at Guantanamo.
Administration officials as well as Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin and Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn will make an official announcement at the White House.
Officials from both the White House and Durbin’s office confirmed that President Barack Obama had directed the government to acquire Thomson Correctional Center in Thomson, Ill., a sleepy town near the Mississippi River about 150 miles from Chicago. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid pre-empting Tuesday’s announcement.

On Tuesday, December 15, 2009, the Obama Administration announced that it will buy the Thomson Correctional Center, a State prison in Thompson, Illinois, for the purpose of housing up to 100 detainees currently held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. This move would be a precursor to shutting down the Guantanamo Bay detention facility, which President Obama proposed in a January 2009 executive order. According to the executive order, Guantanamo Bay would be shut by late January 2010, though that deadline will clearly be missed. Before detainees can be moved, however, Congress must vote to allow detainees to be housed on U.S. soil for reasons other than trial. The House Republican Conference has compiled several reason why bringing Guantanamo Bay detainees to the U.S. is dangerous, jeopardizes justice, and is a poor use of taxpayer funds.
Jeopardizing Justice: The Thomson prison is located in the Northern District of Illinois, meaning that any civilian prosecution of terrorist detainees held there would probably occur in Rockford or downtown Chicago. In Illinois, terrorist detainees may well enjoy the legal rights and benefits of U.S. citizens and resident aliens under the Constitution. According to the Congressional Research Service, “non-citizens held in the United States may be entitled to more protections under the Constitution than those detained abroad.” [emphasis mine] If tried by civilian courts, the government would be forced to reveal all of its intelligence on detainees and how it obtained it. Additionally, treating the terrorist attacks as a simple criminal matter rather than an act of war will hinder U.S. efforts to fight terrorism and sends the wrong signal to U.S. enemies abroad. Costly civilian court trials for detainees moved to Illinois will also likely take years. Additionally, at a civilian trial, prosecutors would be forced to reveal U.S. intelligence on detainees, along with the methods and sources used in acquiring it. This will enable al Qaeda to better understand our intelligence-gathering techniques and respond accordingly. For example, Osama bin Laden used U.S. government information revealed during the 1993 World Trade Center bombing criminal trial to update and enhance his techniques.
Wasting Taxpayer Dollars: The Federal Bureau of Prisons estimates that purchasing the Thomson prison would cost the federal government about $120 million up front and $65 million to $85 million annually to operate. The state-of-the-art detention facility at Guantanamo Bay was built at a cost of over $50 million for the explicit purpose of keeping terrorists away from U.S. soil. Members may be concerned that scrapping the Guantanamo Bay facility for a more expensive one in the U.S. is an imprudent use of taxpayer dollars during a recession. Holding and prosecuting detainees in Illinois would also place a significant cost burden on the State and local governments, as well as pose an enormous inconvenience to residents and taxpayers. If the Moussaoui trial is an example, Rockford or Chicago will be a scene of rooftop snipers, bomb-sniffing dogs inspecting cars, identification checks, and heavily armed patrols.
Risking Security: Moving almost 100 terrorist detainees to Illinois would likely increase the focus of terrorists on the State and especially Chicago metropolitan area, possibly making the region a target. The Chicago area is home to about 9.5 million residents, the tallest building in the U.S. (Sears Tower) and the busiest airport in the nation (O’Hare International). The people of Illinois and the Midwest should not be subjected to such a greater security threat unnecessarily.
Thomson Correctional Center: The Thomson Correctional Center is an eight-year-old State prison located in rural Thomson, Illinois, near the border with Iowa. The facility is about 150 miles from Chicago. The 1,600-bed State prison currently holds about 200 minimum security inmates. Some Members may be concerned that the Thomson prison does not have facilities for civilian trials or military commissions, and the closest hospital for surgery or intensive care is about 10 miles away, in Iowa.
Democrats have yet to explain how closing Guantanamo Bay and moving terrorists to the U.S. will make Americans safer. Republicans have proposed H.R. 2294, the Keep Terrorists Out of America Act, which gives Congress an opportunity to stand with the American people by affirming their opposition to releasing the terrorists at Guantanamo prison or bringing them into the U.S. The bill makes clear that governors and State legislatures must pre-approve the transfer or release of any terrorist detainee into their respective states. Lastly, it requires the President to meet strict criteria and certification standards before terrorists housed at the Guantanamo prison could be brought to the United States. There’s no date yet for the garage sale at Gitmo.
Nevertheless, White House officials are about to send off a supply of wardrobe boxes so 250 radical Islamist terrorists can start packing their thobe robes for a one-way trip to Illinois.
Expect an announcement before the end of the year that part of the nearly empty Thomson, Illinois, state penitentiary will be turned into a prison camp for Guantanamo inmates. Might I recommend that the feds also buy a selection of thermal taqiyahs to keep the prisoners’ scalps from getting chilly. Northwestern Illinois isn’t as warm as eastern Cuba in the wintertime.
A draft of a memo prepared by the Justice Department identified Thomson as the number one site under consideration. The memo had been “leaked” to a political Web site; however, don’t confuse the term “leaked” with “unapproved.” Most information leaked by politicians or their top staffers is part of a grand scheme devised by operatives in a formerly smoky room.
Asked about the memo, a White House official described it as “pre-decisional,” which makes perfect sense. “Pre” means before and “decisional” means the act of making a decision. Since a decision hasn’t been made yet, pre-decisional is an apt description … especially if the White House official was pre-delusional as to what the outcome will be.
Once the place is purchased by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and Gitmo prisoners are moved to Thomson, the fun will begin.
Just like it did at Guantanamo.
Call it playing by the book.
The “Declaration of Jihad” book.
The rules of engagement for captured terrorists are prescribed as clearly as can be in lesson 18. That is the chapter titled “Prisons and Detention Centers.” Here are the first two, and presumably most important, rules for prisoners to follow:
1. At the beginning of the trial, once more the brothers must insist on proving that torture was inflicted on them by State Security (investigators) before the judge. 2. Complain (to the court) of mistreatment while in prison.
So, whether or not terrorist prisoners have been strung up by their toenails, they are to “insist on proving torture was inflicted on them” and “complain of mistreatment while in prison.”
Such tactics shouldn’t be surprising. The playbook was found by British police in May of 2000 on a computer seized during a raid of Osama bin Laden’s one-time personal secretary.
Even though the 180-page “al-Qaida handbook,” was authenticated and used by federal prosecutors, it has been criticized as incomplete and not the genuine article.
You can’t argue with this: The rules set forth in the prison section of the Jihad handbook line up with the behavior of top terrorist suspects at Gitmo.
“The brother has to do his best to know the names of the state security officers, who participated in his torture and mention their names to the judge,” states one rule for captured Jihadists. “These names may be obtained from brothers who had to deal with those officers in previous cases.”
If you don’t still don’t believe that Thomson-bound terrorists are just following orders by fabricating torture claims, consider these comments:
“al-Qaida’s training manual, seized by British authorities in Manchester, England, openly instructs detained al-Qaida fighters to claim torture and other types of abuse as a means of obtaining a moral advantage over their captors.
That advice has been routinely followed by detainees at Guantanamo Bay, who have succeeded in generating incessant demands from international actors or for the base’s closure or ‘for their own liberation,’ unquote. That’s what was in their manual.”
Those are of the words of Rep. Trent Franks, an Arizona Republican and a member of the Armed Services Committee and the Judiciary Committee, during a hearing last May on closing Guantanamo.
“Isn’t the administration’s closure of Gitmo and the removal of enemy combatants, possibly even in the United States, a complete victory of lawfare for al-Qaida?” Rep. Franks asked Attorney General Eric Holder, who was a witness at the hearing.
“I mean, what else could they (the terrorists) possibly ask for if this is in their book and we’re following it to the letter? What more could they ask for us to do?” Franks said.
Atty. Gen. Holder replied: “I don’t think it’s a victory. I think it’ll be a victory for our country and a victory for the causes that we fight for by closing Guantanamo and taking from al-Qaida the ability to recruit and point to that place as a place where inappropriate things happen, true or not. I mean, that has become a symbol of practices that this administration has decided not to use. [try not to roll your eyes…]
So I don’t see the closing of Guantanamo as a victory at all for al-Qaida. I think it’s going to be a victory for the American people and for our allies.”
Regardless, the 559 official residents of Thomson, Illinois, will soon be able to decide for themselves. As they greet the prison buses rolling down Highway 84, they should be prepared to see rule #8B in action from the Jihadist training manual.
“When the brothers are transported from and to the prison (on their way to the court) they should shout Islamic slogans out loud from inside the prison cars to impress upon the people and their family the need to support Islam.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Tuesday that a bipartisan majority in Congress “already rejected bringing terrorists to U.S. soil for long-term detention.”

I came across the following blog post from my blogroll and was amazed. Not only is it well written, it speaks to several points the hearts of freedom fighters around the country are longing to express. My thanks to “Mike from NC” at common conservative sense. I’ve reprinted only a portion here because I want you to go to Mike’s blog and read the article in its entirety. Then come back here and tell me what you think!
Obama vs. America
We are in the early stages of a war. There may be no military action, no bullets or bombs, but we are in a war none the less. This war is for the soul of America. [emphasis mine and throughout] This war is for the preservation of the principles our country was founded on and which have kept us free and prosperous since our beginning. President Obama and his allies do not like America, at least not as it is and has been. They do not believe that America is the greatest country in the history of civilization. They do not believe in American exceptionalism. They do not believe that we as Americans have a right to be proud of what we have accomplished and to be proud of the good we have done for the world. They believe America needs to be remade. They are wrong.
Obama and friends are wrong about what America believes and what America stands for.
America is a Christian nation. There may be arguments about the particular faith of some of the Founding Fathers, but the majority were undeniably Christians. One would have to “willfully suspend disbelief” to believe otherwise after reading our founding documents as well as our history. The real history, not the revisionist history. We do not deny anyone the privilege to worship as they choose, or to decline any form of worship. But our country was founded under Christian principles and beliefs.
The God of our founders and the God I pray to is Yahweh, Jehovah God, the God of Abraham and Issac. The God of the Bible. He is not some generic “man upstairs”. He is the Creator of the universe and of mankind. Because of His deep love for us, He gave His son Jesus willingly as an atonement for our sin. He is boundlessly good and has all power. He is Love, but He is a jealous God. He will chastise and correct us as individuals and as a nation if we stray too far for too long. We have strayed far and long and we need to return to Him as a nation. Pray for His mercy, His blessings, His wisdom and His guidance. If ever we needed it, it is now. If you don’t know Him, seek Him and you will f
ind Him.
We do not believe that America needs to be remade, as Obama has stated. We believe that instead we need to return to the ideals of our Founders. We need to return to lower taxes, limited, smaller government, and unfettered personal freedom.
We do not believe that America is arrogant. Strong, confident and proud, yes. Arrogant, no.
America does not stand for wealth redistribution. We are generous, compassionate people with our money, but our generosity is not for Obama to dictate.
We believe that capitalism is the best economic system. Socialism doesn’t work. Marxism doesn’t work. We believe in equality of opportunity, not in equality of outcome. Some people work harder, some people are smarter, some people have better ideas. When those people succeed, the country succeeds. When they become wealthy, the country becomes wealthy. Wealthy people buy things, they build things, they create jobs, they start businesses, they invest in American prosperity. America would collapse without them. They are not evil and do not deserve punishment.
America does not believe in the punitive taxation of our achievers. We believe in encouraging and rewarding achievement. It is counter productive to tax successful achievers into oblivion. All Americans should pay taxes so that all Americans have a stake in keeping the system honest. Consider that the City of Chicago just closed for a day to save money, with more days scheduled for more savings. A productive business does not save money by closing. Businesses produce wealth by being open for business. The government only takes, while producing nothing. Financially speaking, they are far more efficient and productive if they would just stay at home. We know that poor people don’t get any richer just because money is taken from the wealthy.
America does not stand for federally funded abortion on demand. A large and growing segment of us believe that abortion is wrong. However, the law of the land allows it for now. But using our tax dollars to support it is unacceptable.
America does not believe in a weakened, ineffective military. We do not believe that our military should be used to enforce social experimentation. We believe in spending our tax dollars to equip and train the greatest fighting force ever known to mankind, then praying to God that we will not have to use it. We love peace, but we are not afraid to fight for liberty. We know that we don’t make weak nations any stronger by being weak ourselves. Being the only remaining superpower is a good thing. A very good thing. We have no desire to weaken ourselves in the interest of “fairness”. Senator Barbara Boxer had the audacity to publicly humiliate a brigadier general for referring to her as “ma’am” rather than as ”senator”. This is symptomatic of the arrogance and ignorance of many of our elected representatives. They have come to think of themselves as royalty. They think wrongly. I know of several fitting monikers for Senator Boxer, but decorum prevails.
We welcome legal immigrants, as we always have. But for those who have no more respect for our country and our laws than to cross our borders unlawfully, we are not welcoming. We certainly don’t believe in giving them the rewards of our hard earned tax dollars in the form of social benefits. We do not support amnesty for illegal aliens. Secure our borders and enforce our laws. English is our language. Learn it if you want to live here.

Would Obama have Called the Japanese at Pearl Mere Extremists?
Here’s an excerpt from an accurate, but scathing post on the President’s two-faced speech regarding the new troops headed for Afghanistan in the sometime near future. (Thanks to 73wire.com and The Minority Report.)
On the 68th anniversary of the day President Franklin Delano Roosevelt said would live in infamy, let us look see if any September 11, 2001 infamy lives in the cold heart of President Barack Hussein Obama.
Based on Obama’s Afghan War address last week, with West Point cadets as props, the only infamy I could detect was for the men and women who kept us safe after 911, especially including his predecessors in office named President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.But I’m not surprised, after all, Obama is a Democrat, and not one of the FDR variety. No, he is a post 1963 variety. He is no JFK that would bear any burden for Liberty. Rather, He is of the Blame America first crowd. I’m sure if he had finished the (Marxist) Dreams of his Father and Hate America Church Rev. Wright’s Audacity of Hope before December 7, 1941, he would have asked the question former President Bill Clinton asked soon after the 911 attacks, i.e. “Why do they hate us?”

Secondly, you will search in vain in Obama’s first address as Commander-in-Chief for any reference to our enemies as enemies or terrorists. For example:
On September 11, 2001, 19 men hijacked four airplanes and used them to murder nearly 3,000 people…
As we know, these men belonged to al Qaeda — a group of extremists…
I set a goal that was narrowly defined as disrupting, dismantling, and defeating al Qaeda and its extremist allies
Our President speaks of “men” that belong to a club (al Qaeda) that is “extreme.” Sounds like he speaks of the Shriners on a bad alcohol weekend, or Kiwanis when the pancakes got cold. They just like a little innocent blood with their meals. I guess the kamikazes just like to fly their planes a little too close to…mere extremists.
Most of Obama’s oration was reserved for diatribes against President Bush and his own country, praises for himself and condescension’s against the military as he explains the cost of war and that we have an economic crisis at home. Who knew?
FDR had a little crisis of his own on the Day of Infamy we commemorate today, but he didn’t speak of exit strategies or tiptoe around the fact that we faced evil enemies. He spoke of total victory and the unconditional surrender of the Kamikazes. [emphasis mine]
And neither did President Bush equivocate about his Day of Infamy. Which is why we hadn’t been struck since 911 until Obama’s Fort Hood “extremist”, mentally ill, Muslim effected the worst, dare I say, terrorist attack on American soil since 2001.
I just hope that we don’t have to add a further days of infamy due to Obama’s weakness, with the main day of infamy being his Inauguration.
Obama is no FDR. He isn’t even a Jimmy Carter. In fact, it is to former President Carter’s credit that Obama includes him in his diatribe against this country.
God bless those that lost their lives on December 7, 1941 and those that avenged that infamous sneak attack.
