For months, experts, including Amb. Bolton, have charged that the only way to stop Iran’s nuke program is to cut off their oil imports.  Now, it seems the world waits with baited breath as the Isaraelis must “do an Antebi” and come to its rescue—again…

In related news, this from IBD and printed in The Constitutional Government Blog of TCC:

Please Take Our Oil, Comrade!  | October 5, 2009 |

“Energy: As Russian attack submarines patrol our eastern seaboard, Moscow signs a deal to help Castro’s Cuba drill for oil off the Florida coast. In Moscow and Havana, the cry is ‘Drill, Comrade, Drill!’
“Two Russian nuclear attack submarines have taken up positions along our East Coast in recent days, another sign of renewed assertiveness by the former communist giant. The move comes as Moscow inks a deal with the communist relic of Cuba to drill for oil we refuse to go after.
“The submarines are of the Akula class, a counterpart to the Los Angeles class attack subs of the U.S. Navy. ‘I don’t think they’ve put two first-line nuclear subs off the U.S. coast in about 15 years,’ said Norman Polmar, a naval historian and submarine warfare expert.

“The subs’ appearance may be more symbolic than a real threat. More interesting, perhaps, are the four contracts Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin signed in Havana during his recent visit there.

“They allow Russia’s Zarubezhneft oil concern to work with the Cubanpetroleo monopoly to explore and develop the oil riches of the North Cuban Basin off Florida.

“Havana imports more than half its oil, mostly at a subsidized price from Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela. Cuba’s domestic output is exclusively heavy oil with a high sulfur content. Its offshore Gulf waters could contain large quantities of lighter, sweet crude.

“Drilling will be done off America’s coast soon enough. But thanks to a treaty signed by President Carter, the new oil and gas resources that will be discovered in the region will be discovered by Russia and Cuba to their economic benefit.

“Normally, economic zones extend 200 miles off a country’s coastline. In some cases, conflicts can arise based on resources and geography. In 1977, Carter signed a treaty with Cuba that essentially split the difference and created for the communist country an ‘exclusive economic zone’ extending from the western tip of Cuba north virtually to Key West. Cuba has divided its side of the Florida Straits into 59 parcels and put them up for lease.

“Foreign countries, including China and India, had acquired the rights to develop 16 of them.

” ‘This is the irony of ironies,’ complained Charles Drevna, executive vice president of the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association. ‘We have chosen to lock up our resources and stand by to be spectators while these two come in and benefit from things right in our own backyard.’

“Repsol-YPF, the Spanish oil company, has been active in Cuba for more than five years. It drilled a test well off the coast in 2004 and was set to start a second well when it postponed it early last month. Now the Russians are coming.

“The U.S. Geological Survey recently estimated the North Cuban Basin contains as much as 9 billion barrels of oil and 22 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Pools of oil and natural gas tend not to obey lines drawn on a map.

“It is certain that at least some of Cuba’s wells will tap oil pools that straddle the boundary separating our zone from Cuba’s. In other words, Havana will get oil that should be ours.

“The argument against Gulf drilling has been the potential for oil leaks and spoiled beaches.

“Where are the environmentalists to protest this deal? Fact is, more oil bubbles up naturally from the sea floor than has ever leaked from oil platforms in the Gulf.

“And those platforms are prime spots for tourist fishing, since they act as artificial reefs for sea life.

“The oil and gas resources of the Gulf of Mexico and the Outer Continental Shelf could be fueling cars and heating homes in America, not those in Beijing, Moscow, New Delhi or Havana.

“If Russia, Cuba and others can drill off the coast of Florida, why can’t we?”

Give Away This Story’s Ending

By AJ Rinaldi

Everyone loves a good Christmas movie! But why do we enjoy watching them year after year when we already know the ending? Because that’s what we really love about them—the ending! And sometimes those endings leave you wanting a little bit more. For example, what happens to Mr. Potter, Bob Cratchett, or even the Grinch? Do they receive their comeuppance or their reward? Regardless, we enjoy imagining the great things that result as these beloved (or despised) characters live on after our view into their lives comes to an end.

However, with the True Story of Christmas, we don’t have to speculate. God has provided us with enough detail that we know the ending for the baby who was born in a manger. As the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, He will rule eternally (Revelation 21-22)! As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas, let’s remember that His story has the most exciting ending of all. And that’s an ending that we should never hesitate to give away!

Great post at Target Rich EnvironmentTax Dollars Paying To Add Injury to Insult

Random Nuclear Strikes (link) had a link to this animated editorial cartoon on “How to Speak Teabag” (link) at National Public Radio’s news website.  I wouldn’t care much if this piece of garbage was on someone’s privately-funded blog or website, but this is aggravating: a taxpayer-funded (National Public Radio) website running a piece of propaganda belittling concerned taxpayers.

This also raises the specter of the Obama administration’s collusion with the National Endowment for the Arts to propagandize Obamacare (link), where in a shocking violation of federal law, taxpayer-funded artists were enlisted in a conference call to produce pro-Obamacare art.  NPR received a $50,000 grant (link) under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (aka “Stimulus” or Porkulus Bill).

Was NPR represented on the NEA conference call?  Is this what they’re using ther “stimulus” cash for? Is there a lack of privately funded opinion identical to this?

This is what the tea parties are all about: the creeping blob of huge government turning against taxpayers with our own money, and that borrowed from future generations.

Quote of the Day

“There is a conservative ascendancy happening out there — that’s what’s happening on the streets of America — and it’s not a Republican ascendancy. Again, it’s a conservative ascendancy, and to have it defined as something else is going to inflict great harm.”

New database names those who made earmarks possible

Yesterday in the main cmmentary was about an almost unnoticed development amid the national health care fracus: “two of Washington’s nonpartisan watchdog organizations released a comprehensive database of how Congress spent $19.9 billion on 11,286 earmarked projects in fiscal year 2009…”

According to “Taxpayers for Common Sense and the Center for Responsive Politics, the $19.9 billion spent on 11,286 earmarked projects in the 2009 budget bills actually exceed the $18.3 billion for 11,780 projects in the FY 2008 budget bills…”

“Relative to a budget of $3 trillion a year, $19.9 billion in earmarks is chump change: less than two-thirds of 1 percent of all spending… But in the real world, $19.9 billion is not chump change. It represents $66 for every man, woman and child in the United States…”

It doesn’t matter that some may consider these expenditures ‘important public needs’ — these need NOT be filled by the federal government at all, as it is NOT the duty of the fed to do these things as stated in the Constitution.  We are so PREDISPOSED to holding out our hand and expecting someone else to come along and hold up our arm so that we can receive our handout, that we EXPECT the government to solve all these problems and no longer have the capacity to work it out ourselves.  THIS is the true LOSS OF LIBERTY, my friends.

“The problem with earmarks is one of process: They can slide through without scrutiny. They are treated as political backscratching. They suck up money that might better be spent on other national priorities, or not at all…”

Ongoing Update on ‘Global Warming’

Nevermind that over 750 scientists, including Nobel Laureates, are backing up their refutation of the climate change hoax with actual data that debunk CO2 as the cause.  Pardon me if I retch on the hype that made Al Gore a billionaire and ask why we must pass cap & trade legislation that will devestate our economy because we’re threatened with a disputed hypothesis.  Renounce your freedom now and beware the runaway hypothesis!!  (Thanks, and regrets, to Fritz.)

What You Can Do About ObamaCare

Barack Obama just launched his full court press to get his socialized ObamaCare passed before the August recess.
He just struck a deal with House Democrats that gives an outside panel even more power and control over tough healthcare cost decisions — allowing Congress and the President to “pass the buck” when healthcare costs skyrocket and rationing is enforced!
Where is this “outside panel” leading?
+ + Dirty Secret of ObamaCare…. Rationing!
The emergence of the “outside panel” is an ominous sign of where ObamaCare is going — healthcare rationing.
Just a few weeks ago, Obama openly pointed to the government overseeing healthcare rationing for the elderly or infirm.
During his highly publicized healthcare forum on ABC TV, Obama responded to a question from a woman who was concerned whether her 105-year-old mother will have access to health care. Obama at first insisted that she would but then said the government needs to step in and make end-of-life health care decisions for the terminally ill…

“At least we can let doctors know and your mom know that, you know what, maybe this isn’t going to help.  Maybe you’re better off not having the surgery but taking the pain killer.”

“Better off” with pain killers instead of a medical procedure? That’s rationing plain and simple!
You simply must hear the quote for yourself. Go here:
+ + Showdown Imminent!
It is now clear that we are heading for a major showdown over the next two weeks — and now we can see where this is all heading… Rationing from an “outside panel” of bureaucrats!
We need to take a stand NOW — when ObamaCare is most vulnerable — or we will face healthcare rationing.
+ + Action #1 — Sign the Petition!
The first step to stopping socialized ObamaCare is to join over 220,000 citizens and sign the petition.
Please go here right now to sign and join the fight to oppose socialized ObamaCare:
+ + Action #2 — Call the White House Today
Obama is ramping up the pressure to get his socialized ObamaCare passed. That was the entire point of Wednesday’s nationally televised press event. Please call the White House and let Obama know that his pressure campaign is not working:
White House Switchboard: 202-456-1414
White House Comment Line: 202-456-1111

Also, call your Representative today and tell him or her you oppose socialized ObamaCare:
Call the House Switchboard: 202-224-3121
You can find and contact your Representatives here:
Talking Points:
#1 — I oppose the President’s socialized healthcare plan.

#2 — I do not want the government to have more control and influence over my health care. That is why I reject the so-called “public
option” which is really socialized health care and will destroy private options.
#3 — American cannot afford the $1.5 trillion price tag of socialized health care during these difficult economic times. I flatly reject
any health care proposal that increases costs or imposes new taxes on any American.
Thank you for taking a stand.

Andy Rooney’s Thoughts

Andy Rooney

Surprised CBS let him get away with this even though he may be right…

Andy Rooney said on ’60 Minutes’ a few weeks back:

I don’t think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens…Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, which is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

I have the right ‘NOT’ to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability.

I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American/Canadian/British citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn’t die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot or arrest you if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can’t understand the word ‘freeze’ or ‘stop’ in English, see the above lines.

I don’t think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special National Assistance, loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, corner store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don’t hate the rich I don’t pity the poor.

I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn’t stop you from watching them.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that’s better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn’t take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say ‘NO!’

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don’t pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don’t want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of ‘Political Correctness.’ I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in  Africa ; so how can they be ‘African-Americans/Canadian/British’? Besides,  Africa  is a continent.. I don’t go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe . I am proud to be from America and nowhere else

And if you don’t like my point of view, tough…

It is said that on average 86% of Canadians/ Americans & British believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having ‘In God We Trust’ on American money and having ‘God’ in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don’t we just tell the 15%+ to BE QUIET!!!
