What To Do? IL Primary Can Be Tsunami

I sent this as an email to all my co-Patriot friends.  Feel free to do the same.

Fellow Patriots,

In a stunning move, Harry Reid is looking to change this country forever… and not for the better.  He’s put in a provision to stop us from ever changing it in the future!

In the latest post at TaxDayTeaParty.com, we bring light to the fact that Reid is now starting to include language in his healthcare bill that would ban future lawmakers from changing the legislation.

In other words, once they get this thing passed, we’ll be slaves to it forever. And there will be nothing we can do about it within the constraints of our current system of government.

This blatant violation of his oath for office could not be more clear.  This is against our Constitution—the standard by which we judge those who work for us!

Is that the kind of news you want to hear?

Well, what have you done to change politics-as-usual in Illinois?

Sure, you can vote. Remember, for every one of your votes there is a gravestone in Cook County with an absentee ballot on it.

Sure, you can attend rallies in freezing weather that the press ignores and politicians use for comic relief. Doesn’t that just make your blood boil?

Sure, you can make phone calls to your elected so-called representatives.. How’s that working out for you?

Sure, you can sign petitions, fill out surveys, and fill up your friends’ in boxes with political flotsam and jetsam. How does preaching to the choir change the other voters’ minds on election day?

Or, you can put information about candidates’ positions, minus the spin, on important issues in the hands of actual voters on election day.

So which is it? Politics as usual? Or a tsunami that starts in the Mississippi valley and spreads to all three coasts that sweeps the corruption-addicted politicians out-of-office?

Illinois is the first primary in the country. What the embattled people of Illinois say in February at the polls will be louder than anything that you individually can hope to say. How do you influence voters that don’t pay attention to the din of politics on the Internet and cable news and traditional media?

So what can you do?

First listen to this recording Teleconference Audio – Candidate Research – from 2009-12-06. Then go to the Tasks page, pick a legislative district, do the research described in the recording and on that page, and post the results of your work. (At Abigail Adams Project – see link below)

DO IT TODAY!

There is no tomorrow!

The universe (creator, God, etc.) rewards people who take action differently than those who do not.

Visit Illinois Abigail Adams Project at: http://illinois-abigail-adams.ning.com/ or Visit Liberty Movement Social Network at: http://www.thepatriotcaucus.net/

We need to be thinking about this, and we need to be ready to confront it in 2010.

Enjoy a blessed and comfortable week with your family, but be ready for the political fight of your life shortly thereafter.

For Liberty,

~ Lisa

Is the GOP Listening Now?

Two new vids put out by GOP.com that are short and beautiful—two qualities good informational media should have, and two qualities which are utterly lacking in most informational media today.  (Hat tip to Bernie at Conservatives Defending Liberty)  These videos are reasonable by virtue of being factual—they describe actual events and the people involved.  There is a bullying spirit behind these shenanigans, it is becoming ever more pervasive, and We the People shouldn’t stand for it.

Dr. Larry Arnn, President of Hilldale College, puts it this way:

[These principles] represent a return to the idea that the American Revolution repudiated—the idea that some are equipped by nature or training to manage the lives of others without their consent…  [Obama] has no desire to own the automobile companies {and other industries – getdclu}.  Instead, he wants to control them—and the rest of us as well—through a regulatory apparatus overseen by czars and bureaucrats…  Rather than looking on us as equal beings with a set nature {as determined in the Declaration}—such that none of us should rule another in the wat that God rules man or man rules beast—our political leaders today have been taught to see us as material to be shaped and perfected by experts who have the proper technical training.

It has been close to 100 years now that the majority of people teaching in American colleges and universities have agreed with Woodrow Wilson, one of the founders of the Progressive movement… that the Declaration of Independence is obsolete, and that we need to liberate the Constitution from the Declaration’s restraints.  This liberation leads to the idea of a “living Constitution,” characterized by constant change or progress…  Absolute truth {obstructs that} which is why… Obama refers to is as tyrannical.  {Can you believe that?  Absolute truth, like God’s truth, is tyrannical!}  But if change… is the rule, who is to determine what version of change or progress is good?  …[O]nce you deny the existence of absolute truth, the definition of “good” becomes subjective and the only standard of behavior is what we want—”we,” in the political sense, meaning the government…  It reduces politics not to right, but to force. {emphasis mine}  That is why there is a bullying spirit about our government today and why so many Americans are worried.

It is time for that to stop.

His two suggestions:

  1. For the ordinary folk of the US to see that this is despotism, and to rise up and repudiate it.
There are several Conservative organizations, but my suggestion is to check out The Patriot Caucus as well as the GOP.
  2. Though longer-term, also as vital: replace leaders with gov’t educations with those who;ve had homeschool &/or good educations from librty-loving post-graduate colleges.
Remember, we have to vote out all non-conservative incumbants!

Update – Politics As Usual

I emailed back and forth with Dan Proft personally today to get some clarity on the issue of thousands of people leaving Illinois due to high taxes, poor education and bad business practices—all the usual bad politics.  Here’s the discussion…

Get d’Clu:

In your email this morning, you cite “736,000 more people have moved out than have moved in to Illinois in the past decade.”  Of that 736k, how many of those were retirees moving to warmer climes, rather than those looking for better tax states or better job states or better anything states?  I agree with you that IL is chasing people out of the state, but this point should have been investigated and communicated better because it’s wide open to interpretation, even tho’ it’s an accurate statistic.

 Dan Proft:

It’s a good point but it should be pointed out that IL is the number one net out-migration state per capita. So on an apples-to-apples comparison with the other 49 states contemplating the variables you point out, IL is seeing population flight like no other state.

Appreciate the note.

So there you have it from Dan’s Blackberry.

Politics As Usual In the IL GUBE Race

Yesterday, I received a press release from Dan Proft about Andy McKenna’s use of his party chairmanship to boost his own campaign.  Today, the ILGOP launched an ethics probe into Andy McKenna’s use of the chairmanship ( http://is.gd/5oCTi ).

Using party money to finance a “statewide run” poll without public accountability to advance his own political position is just what Illinois career politicians do and what Conservative voters are tired of!  Fellow party members, some who had already commented on their upcoming gubernatorial campaigns to the chairman (per Proft), knew nothing of this poll and likely would not have approved it.

Conflict of interest should be the middle name of IL politics-as-usual.  We’re all for a new way of doing it here, downstate.  As Dan Proft says, “’Illinois Isn’t Broken.  It’s Fixed.’  In other words, the fix is in for the political class and their functionaries in state government.  Our challenge and opportunity is to “un-fix” the big-ticket systems in Springfield such that they serve the people who play by the rules in Illinois and advance their quality of life interests.  However, before we can “un-fix” Illinois, we have to “un-fix” the Illinois Republican Party.   Our ability to do both will be directly dependent on our GOP nominees this election cycle, beginning with our candidate for Governor.  The decisions GOP primary voters make on February 2 will determine if our party and our state can be salvaged.”

That sounds like change I can believe in, don’t you?

McKenna target of ethics probe?

Chicago Daily Observer, from RSS of Illinois Review

Illinois Review told Proft if the IL GOP members’ dues and donations paid for the survey, they have a right to see the figures under the dedacted portions of the pages.  Proft did not reply.

I’ll – getdclu  – email Dan to see if he’ll respond and will update later…

I look forward to a polite response from candidate McKenna.

Spiritual battles going on, folks.  We know we are way over our heads and fighting His battle.  It has to be fought God’s way and we need to stop fighting each other and come together.  PRAY.  Gain Conservative control of the GOP.  “Guard your hearts and minds…”  “Do not be afraid.”  Fear is due to a lack of faith.  Remember that we don’t fight against flesh and blod, but with principalities…  The Dems aren’t our enemies!  FOCUS.

Remember what happened in NJ & VA — sound conservative principles will serve Conservative Principals well!  Stay True!  Bobby Jindal’s LA is successful!  You can do it and we will support you!

A New Dawn

Now that Scozzafava ditched the race and the leftists are scratching their heads in bitter amazement at the good run Dan Hoffman has in NY23 (the race isn’t over at the time of this writing), perhaps the Republican martini elite has gotten it through their dullness that most of us want CONSERVATIVE leadership!

With this switch to Hoffman, perhaps we can anticipate more patriotic conservatives to emerge on the Republican ticket in the congressional races for 2012, espousing school choice, responsible yet minimal government regulation, secure borders, strong national defense, and (of course) freedom of speech on the airwaves and internet; all solutions supported by the vast majority of Americans (if, in using the word “populist” you mean “replacing the Democrats”, yes, that is to what I refer, but not engendering the “populist movement of the 1890’s).

Back in the first half of 2006, Dan Riehl reported that “the word populist may be for the Right what liberal is for the Left – a bad word. Both words suffer from extreme over-simplification…”

“[V]ia Real Clear Politics, an excellent site for a timely snapshot of political news…”

“But the topic for now is political terminology thanks to an interesting piece by Craig Shirley at the Washington Post.”

The immigration reform debate has highlighted a long-standing fissure in the GOP between the elitist Rockefeller business wing and the party’s conservative populist base…

Particularly noteworthy is the following:

The elites in the GOP have never understood conservatives or Reagan; they’ve found both to be a bit tacky. They have always found the populists’ commitment to values unsettling. To them, adherence to conservative principles was always less important than wealth and power.

… It was the populists under Reagan, and later under Newt Gingrich, who energized the party, gave voice to a maturing conservative ideology and swept Republicans into power. We would be imprudent and forgetful to disregard this…

“In its pure form, populist means little more than lower-case d democrat.”

[A]n advocate of democratic principles.

Riehl goes on to describe some history and then explains why Americans simply want good laws to be enforced and big government to become smaller and less intrusive.  They also want their representatives to actually represent them – what a novel concept in today’s political arena.  When Obama spoke of transparency and change, many people really thought he’d live up to at least a little of that rhetoric (like not using “bundling buddies” as employees and ambassadors or making stealth deals with Google that affect Net Neutrality…).

Conservatives are guided by the governing principles of the primacy of individual sovereignty, the sanctity of private property, and preservation of the rule of law.  The rule of law is what makes this Republic different than any other country in the world.  So when our leaders make laws that usurp or controvert the Constitution, they are abridging our freedoms!

“It’s not tyranny we desire; it’s a just, limited, federal government.”  ~Alexander Hamilton

Let us hope and pray that Conservatives win these elections this month and in 2010 in a grand wave of freedom, and may it be a warning to all incumbants that we intend to vote them out if they continue on their same paths.

Let Your Voice Be HEARD!

Action Alert

“Let Your Voice Be Heard” by Congressman Mike Pence—a true Conservative.

Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugged has again posted marvelous links for your reference.  But here’s the catch—you need to DO SOMETHING!  I’ll list some of her links below. Whatever you decide, the future of our nation rides on that decision!

President Kennedy is known for his energetic speeches that riled up the nation and catapulted us to the moon.  His dynamic words moved us to motion and we need that movement now…

Now is the time for all good (wo)men to come to the aid of their country.

Ronald Reagan told of our date with destiny in his 1964 Goldwater speech:

You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.
Pelosi’s bill is being called the “worst bill ever” — with over 1,000 instances of “taxes,” “regulations,” and other government-control key words.  And she wants a vote this week.  Steve Elliott, President, Grassfire.org Alliance sent this information.  It lists my Representatives, but you can go to the links to find your own non-representing Representatives…

The Wall Street Journal is calling Nancy Pelosi’s 1,990-page government takeover of healthcare the “worst piece of post-NewDeal legislation ever introduced.”The Journal says it will create an “unrepealable middle class entitlement” that will cause taxes to “rise precipitously” and will result in “all medicine” being “rationed via politics.”

The CBO cost estimate is coming in at $1.055 trillion and that’s just scratching the surface. The Journal says  “ObamaCare will be lucky to cost under $2 trillion over 10 years; it will grow more after that.”Go here to access Wall Street Journal’s excellent analysis of what it calls the “worst bill ever”:http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?U=22654&CID=122&RID=21727630

+ + Bill loaded with taxes, fines, penalties and regulationsIn case there was any doubt left that ObamaCare is a massive,tax-increasing power grab, consider what our Grassfire research team unearthed about the words used in Pelosi’s bill:

–181 instances of “penalty” or “penalties”
–214 times “taxes” or “tax” is recorded
–82 usages of “fee” and “fees”
…A total of 486 times any form of the words penalty, surcharge, tax, fine or fee are used!

–422 instances of “require,” “requires” or “required”
–78 times the words “obligation” or “obligated” occur
–219 usages of “regulation(s)”
–106 times “impose, imposed or imposes” are used…
A total of 609 times any form of the words impose, require, mandate, obligation, license or regulation are used

+ + Pelosi promising vote by as soon as Thursday

We are now bracing for a floor vote in the House as soon as Thursday or Friday. That means we have just a few days to get our message through loud and clear.

+ + Action #1 — Hand-deliver your message directly to Congress

Grassfire has already delivered over 100,000 personal letters from citizens across the country to key members of Congress –in just the past week.

This is the best way to make sure your message gets personally delivered to your two Senators, your Representative and other key members of Congress.  This is especially crucial this week. Please go here right now to schedule your messages to be personally hand-delivered: http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?U=22655&CID=122&RID=21727630

Each day’s orders are delivered the next day, so please take a moment right now to schedule your hand-delivery.

+ + Action 2 — Help flood Congress with petitions, phonecalls and other contacts all week long.

In addition to the hand-delivered letters, Grassfire will also be hand-delivering each and every signed petition as part of a massive grassroots effort taking place this Thursday.

Grassfire hopes to rally 1 million citizen contacts (petitions, faxes, phone calls, letters) this Thursday, coinciding with Rep. Michelle Bachmann’s call to join her in walking the halls of Congress and make sure the voice of citizens is heard.

Two ways you can help:

#1 — Ask your friends to sign the petition by going here: http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?u=22661&PID=21727630

All petitions received by 6am Wednesday will be hand-delivered Thursday.

#2 — Call! Call! Call!

Please call your two Senators and your Representative.  If they do not receive hand-delivered letters and calls and other communications from constituents, they will assume you support ObamaCare!

Rep. Shimkus    202-225-5271

Sen. Durbin     202-224-2152

Sen. Burris     202-224-2854

Or, call the switchboard and ask for your member of Congress:202-224-3121.

Be sure to tell your Senators and Representative that you live in their state or district.

We have posted more information at ResistNet. Go here: http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?U=22656&RID=21727630

This is the final countdown to the showdown over ObamaCare.
All hands on deck!

Steve Elliott, President
Grassfire.org

P.S. Please forward this message to your friends.
We simply must have millions of citizens engaged
THIS WEEK in this debate.

For months we have all been working feverishly to make sure that government run health care legislation is not passed. We have done it all:We’ve yelled. We’ve called. We’ve emailed. We’ve written. We’ve rallied. We’ve even marched on the Capitol.

Still our cries and concerns have not been heard. We have cried tears of despair and shouted in frustration, but still many are not listening.

We know you all are so very tired. We know that each of you work tirelessly each and everyday, trying to do your part, to make a difference.  Each of you has done a great job at speaking your hearts.

Some are calling for more angry protests, even storming the Capitol, but let’s not give the media another chance to falsely portray us as an unruly mob.

When the White House made its jobs creation announcement, none of the news media reported that another government program — immigration — completely wiped out any overall benefit for unemployed Americans.

Your 3 Members of Congress need to be told repeatedly this week that the federal immigration program this year already has issued about 1.125 million permanent and temporary work permits to new working-age foreign citizens!

All of us need to point out to every local newspaper, every Member of Congress and every one of our co-workers and family that the federal government has imported more than a million working-age foreign citizens this year to negate every positive impact the stimulus could have had for U.S. workers:

Rules for Conservative Radicals

I found this wonderful list by Michael Leahy, co-founder of the TCOT (Top Conservatives on Twitter) and Publisher and Managing Editor of The TCOT Report.  Knowing as we all just love Alinsky’s Rules so much as the playbook of the liberal left, his list for the rightie rights is apropos.  Take a look and commit it to memory (then swallow the page).

Rules for Conservative Radicals

I offer these 15 Tactical Rules for Conservative Radicals , which I recommend for consideration by all Conservative Radicals, in addition to 9 of Saul Alinsky’s Tactical Rules that are as relevant for today’s Conservative Radicals as they are for today’s Left Wing Radicals.

The Conservative Radical’s Tactical Rules

1. It is better to be 85% right and quick than 100% right and slow.

2. Do what you can right now with the technologies, resources, and time immediately available to you.

3. Use free and cheap technologies at every opportunity

4. Observe Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment – do not engage in personal attacks of fellow conservatives in public forums. Anything you say will be ammunition for the left. Personal disputes among fellow conservatives are best handled privately.

5. When communicating through any public forum on the internet–Twitter, blogs, websites – remember that anything digital lives forever, so refrain from the use of profanity, personal attacks, or statements that are factually unsupportable.

6. Publicly engage with the left only when there is a clearly identified goal that has a reasonable likelihood of being accomplished through the engagement.

7. Privately engage with the left when you are confident you are dealing with a person of honor and good will whose personal integrity has not been compromised by Saul Alinsky’s moral nihilism.

8. When engaging with the left let no falsehood go unchallenged.

9. When dealing with the left, look for opportunities to persuade open-minded opponents of the merits of conservatism.

10. When evangelizing to open minded members of the left, be a friendly teacher guiding your students towards conservatism, not an argumentative and arrogant haranguer bent on demonstrating your intellectual superiority.

11. Seek out opportunities to collaborate with like-minded conservatives through self organizing projects.

12. You earn a seat at the table of a self organizing project by showing up, doing the work, and collaborating effectively with your project colleagues.

13. Successful self-organizing projects are characterized by:

(a) rapid response consensus development of goals and tactics
(b) transparent real time communication between project colleagues
(c) rapid implementation of tactics by a core group of the most engaged project colleagues
(d) whose personal conduct is guided by the principles of project servant-leadership.

14. Once you have earned a seat at the table, you have a right to participate in the development of a consensus. But if you don’t show up to participate, you lose the right to complain about decisions made by the group in your absence. The process drives forward relentlessly on a 24-7 time clock

15. When conflict arises within your self organized project, and the conflict is not resolvable, leave the project, start your own new project with those who are of like mind, and wish your former project colleagues Godspeed.

9 Tactical Rules from Saul Alinsky that are as relevant for today’s
Conservative Radicals as they are for today’s Left Wing Radicals

1. Never go outside the experience of your project colleagues

2. Wherever possible, go outside the experience of the opposition

3. Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.

4. A good tactic is one that your project colleagues enjoy.

5. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag

6. Keep the pressure on

7. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.

8. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

9. Make the opposition live up to their own book of rules.  [Corresponds to SA’s Rule #4.]

Note: I have changed the word “people” in rules 1 and 4 to the words “project colleagues”, and the word “enemy” in rules 2 and 9 to “opposition”.

Rules for Radicals

The 13 Main Alinsky Tactics

  1. Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.
  2. Never go outside the experience of your people.
  3. Whenever possible go outside the experience of the enemy.
  4. Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.
  5. Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.
  6. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.
  7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.
  8. Keep the pressure on with different tactics, and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.
  9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.
  10. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.
  11. If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside.
  12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.
  13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

1.7M and Top 20 Memorable Signs From the 9/12 D.C. Tea Party

The MSM aside, the computer program used by the Indiana State University to count the number of bodies in a picture gave an accurate figure of 1.7 million people attending the 9-12 march on the mall in D.C. last month.  That’s a bigger number of people gathered for any political event EVER there.  And as subsequent pictures showed, there was very little trash left by these caring folks to be picked up by the local sanitary department the next day.  Very nice, indeed.

Here’s the top 20 list of best signage.
